Consultation over demolition
A CONSULTATION will be held on how Weston-super-Mare's dilapidated Tropicana will be demolished.
North Somerset Council has drawn up plans to take down the one time seafront landmark and return the area to beach.
The council wants the demolition scheme agreed so it can move ahead with knocking down the building.
But members of its south area planning committee said they wanted people to be given the chance to have their say on the plans before making a final decision.

Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has already approved a decision by the authority to demolish the former open-air pool.
But campaign group Trop (WSM) Ltd appealed against the decision and now the High Court has granted an injunction preventing the building from being demolished until the appeal is heard on November 29.
Should the council win the appeal, a final report is expected to go to the south area committee for approval by the end of December.
The plans include removing all trace of the building to a minimum level of 2.5 metres below the existing beach level.
Safety fencing will be put up and there will be limits on noise, the hours of work and inspections to check for pollution problems.
The final bill to remove the building is expected to be about £700,000.

“Maybe not a building of great significance, but yet, we should be preserving and protecting any building of this age.
