ADVERTORIAL FEATURE

As summer draws to a close, don't mourn the loss of long lazy days, but throw yourself into a new season and a new palette, as autumn brings with it a host of beautiful, burnished new looks that are perfect for lighting up the grey days and dark nights ahead.

With London Fashion Week just around the corner, fashion's good and great are gearing up to showcase an autumnal fashion harvest, but if you just can't wait, take note from across the pond, where NY Fashion Week was all about makeup. From the bare-faced beauties at Alexander McQueen and Valentino, to the decadent, jewelled brows at Chanel, choose your favourite looks for banishing the autumn blues.

Smoke signals

Makeup artist Wendy Rowe's makeup at Burberry Prorsum was a fitting homage to crackling bonfires and autumn nights, pairing gunpowder eye shadow with clean skin and nude lips for a soft, smoky look. For added drama, use burnished metallic shadow in dazzling firecracker shades of green and teal as seen as Roberto Cavalli and Prabang Gurung.

Bare-faced cheek

The natural beauties at Alexander McQueen and Chloe were radiant in simple, pared back makeup, which flaunted their flawless skin with nude lips and understated and pretty eyes. Pat McGrath's makeup for Dolce and Gabbana was similarly natural and fresh, and dewy skin was highlighted with subtle gold eyeliner. Try the eco-friendly, ethical and 100% natural Body Shop beauty products, which are perfect for recreating this look.

50 shades of rouge

The catwalks were awash with luscious red lips in myriad hues. Dick Page's tomato red lips for Marc by Marc Jacobs were a bright, bold statement, perfect for injecting colour and fun into the dark winter days. By contrast, Gucci and Rochas opted for dramatic, blood red lips, worn with minimal eye makeup for blissfully elegant glamour.

Orange

Autumn's wildcard, orange was ablaze on the runways of NYC. Liberally dusted on eyes, cheeks and lips, rich russet tones were seen at Marni, Prada and Rodarte to name a few. The creatives at NARS used bronzer to maximum effect for Rodarte, highlighting eyebrows and cheekbones in rich matt orange, while at Dries Van Noten, swathes of autumnal pumpkin orange were applied to eyelids.

Beautiful bodies

You might not be flashing as much flesh in winter, but it's still vitally important to look after your skin and protect it from the harsh winter elements. Find a body care range to nourish your skin from tip to toe.
