Coleman sparks the Keynsham fightback
Hanhan Minor League Under-10s: Keynsham turned on the style as they fought back to beat Downend Saints 8-2 in Under-10 Dvision B.
A five-man move, finished off by man-of-the-match midfielder Lewis Coleman, saw Keynsham go ahead against the run of play, but Downend replied a minute later when Isaac Butler tapped home to cap a tremendous move which started in their own half.
Five minutes later, Saints went in front through Thomas Dean, but Town came out for the second half in determined mood and scored three without reply. Coleman got his second before turning provider for Lochlainn Collins to put them ahead.
Collins then set up Lewis Whitcombe for the fourth two minutes from time to complete a 4-2 win.
A cracking Joel Milhofer brace and two close-range finishes from Jamie Ticktum were Keynsham's reward in a more comfortable second game, in which George Rooke dominated midfield.
Keeper Zac Hanks pulled off three penalty saves after the kick had to be retaken twice and went close to scoring himself with two huge goal-kicks!
Downend Boys were made to work hard for their 7-2 aggregate victory at Highridge United in another Division B clash.
The first match, which Downend won 3-0, was more even than the result suggests. Highridge's Jack Godfrey and Liam Morgan battled well in midfield, defender Oliver Greenslade tackled strongly and Kierra Greenslade produced some terrific saves.
Billy Beese's excellent passing made him Highridge's star player while his side had several chances to score through Owen Pratt and Callum O'Shea, who hit a post.
Keeper Karl Finn pulled off a series of fantastic stops in game two but could do nothing to stop Downend surging into a 3-0 half-time lead.
Highridge fought hard after the break. Cameron Williams scored two fantastic goals and hit a post for Highridge but it was not enough to prevent a 4-2 defeat.
Defender Aaron Banfield was the pick of the Highridge team, while Harry Hemmings, Shaynah Doherty, Ben Priddis, Callum White and Kyle Matthews all batting hard.
Callum Purver's hat-trick was the highlight of Warmley Rangers' 5-1 Division B victory over a resilient St Vallier side.
Purver struck twice in the first half, first heading in George Haynes' corner, then coolly finishing after a fine run. He completed his triple by poking home from close range after a fine cross by man-of-the-match David Skinner.
Toby Sawyer and James Marshall had solid games in midfield, while Cameron Mcneil, Billy Hopkins and Richard Wathen were excellent in defence.
Warmley started the second game brightly, with Sam Lewis going close. Ben Webb and Jason Peach were outstanding at the back and Adam Bishton made a brave save to keep the scores level.
Cash Vinnell eventually broke the deadlock by firing home after a strong run and Charlie Knight notched a second.
Sam Bailey almost made it three from a fine Max Burdon cross before Saints deservedly pulled a goal back.
A George Jones brace in the first game helped Bitton to a 6-0 Division A home win over Fry Colts.
He pounced on a rebound when Harry Prewett's shot was blocked to net his first goal and then converted a pass from Adris Mahmood.
Todd Carter's good display in a more advanced role kept Bitton's midfield ticking, with wide men Harry Prewett and Eli Britton battling for every ball. Jay Rudge and Jack Churchill got through a lot of work at the back for Bitton, making it a quiet morning for keeper Ollie Hemmings whose distribution caused Fry's endless problems in the 2-0 win.
The second match followed a similar pattern with Terrell Patterson and Liam Parry's solid defending keeping Fry's chances to a minimum.
Ollie Shopland got the first of his two goals for Bitton, heading in a Rob Smyth corner before grabbing his second with a lob from Louis Brown's pass.
Patterson found himself in space to unleash a cracking third goal after the break and substitute Josh Garnett poached a fourth after Shopland's effort had been blocked. A third consecutive clean sheet for keeper Charlie Bennett helped Bitton to a workmanlike 4-0 win.
Brislington A fell to a 2-0 defeat at Bradley Stoke Youth in a disappointing top-flight encounter.
The home team took the lead when a free-kick from the edge of the box deflected in off Conor Sheehan.
Billy Davies was outstanding at the back for Brislington, making one goal-line clearance, and Jacob Burt worked tirelessly. But, despite the efforts of star man Warren Lewton, Bradley Stoke got a decisive second goal.
The second game finished goalless. Brislington's biggest threat came from Dean Howlett's throw-ins, while star performer Curtis Lacey and Jack Niblett worked well at the back together with Billy Hobbs in the second half.
