Clubbing What Time Is Love?
Bristol's underground music lovers should consider themselves blessed this summer. Mere weeks ago, the Simple Things all-dayer brought left-field wonders to multiple venues and we still have Brisfest's move to Ashton Court to look forward to in September.
In the meantime there's Love Saves The Day – a brand new one- day festival from the fine people behind the game-changing In:Motion series. The location is Castle Park and the line-up is huge and clubby, with BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac, UK rap legend Roots Manuva and Bristolian dubstep superstar Joker leading the charge.
The rest of the bill brims with rising stars and underground heroes, from hot-as-hell housers Maya Jane Coles, pictured, and Eats Everything to bass music dons Joy Orbison, Ben UFO and Pearson Sound. With leading Bristol promoters Just Jack, Crazylegs, Tokyo Dub and Futureboogie all involved in the programming, there's also a big contingent of local talent with everyone from John Stapleton and DJ Die to Babyhead and Buggsy getting stuck in.
The main event in Castle Park has officially sold out, with second-hand tickets currently selling on eBay and Gumtree for several times their face value, but it's not too late to get involved. There are official warm-up sessions at TB2 and Blue Mountain on Saturday, and huge after-parties at Motion, Lakota, Blue Mountain and The Big Chill featuring sets from some of the people playing at the main event and many that aren't.
