Having picked up the "Best Club Event" gong at DJ Magazine's 2012 Best of British awards, Just Jack enter their eighth year in the rudest of health.

The Bristol promoters have become known for large, lavishly staged events like their recent sold-out seventh birthday at Motion but everything they do is rooted in a deep understanding of their core audience – people who love house music.

While painted on a smaller canvas – The Old Coroner's Court building behind Lakota – this weekend's party seems guaranteed to please the faithful. The headliner is Detroit native Omar S, pictured, whose near-impeccable ten-year discography blurs the line between house and techno – injecting a raw, restless, soulful artistry into both.

Like the similarly iconoclastic but musically very different Ricardo Villalobos, Omar S contributed a mix to the Fabric series comprised entirely of his own tracks, while his productions have also found themselves in the record boxes of forward thinking DJs all over the world. Quite simply, Omar is one of the most admired producers today and his appearance is something of a coup for Just Jack.

Meanwhile, Room Two is helmed by Jay Shepheard – a British DJ currently resident in Berlin, whose Retrofit label channels an infectious blend of house, disco and techno. As always, the residents are Tom Rio and Dan Wild and, this being a Just Jack production, there'll be plenty to look at, from opulent scenery and outrageous costumes to walk-about performers.

Just Jack: 'Back To Jack' The Old Coroner's Court, Backfields, Bristol, BS2 8QN, Saturday, March 2, 11pm-late. www.justjack.org.
