Clubbing The Blast
Motion has an impressive run of big nights scheduled for early 2013, including Just Jack, Tokyo Dub and Funk From The Trunk between now and the end of February, with big name bookings including Theo Parrish, Chase & Status and The Mad Professor.
First up, though, is Saturday's session from The Blast, with a sure-footed multi-genre line-up. The headliner is dubstep superstar Benga (pictured), whose career has gone from strength to strength from pioneering anthems like Evolution and 26 Basslines to Night, his game-changing collaboration with Coki, and his chart-busting work with Magnetic Man and Katy B.
Joining him in the main room are two heroes of their respective genres. Shy FX is one of the true legends of jungle and drum & bass, with a string of all-time classics like Original Nuttah, Bambaata and Shake Ur Body to his name. Zed Bias, meanwhile, was responsible for the UK garage anthem Neighbourhood and essential garage mix album Sound of The Pirates – his innovations influencing dubstep and UK funky along the way.
Other highlights include Breakage, a master of ferocious breakbeat drum & bass and thunderous dubstep in equal measure, and Paleman, with his percussive minimal house and techno workouts.
