Bristol woman climbing Kilimanjaro for the kids
Totterdown woman Dani Glazzard is gearing up to climb Africa's tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro.
The 20-year-old has spent most of her life in Bristol with her family, but on August 25 she will be donning her hiking boots and climbing 19,341ft to the 'Roof of Africa' to raise money for the children's charity, Childreach International.
Dani said: "I've been training for the climb, but nothing can prepare you for altitude sickness. I watched the celebs do it for Comic Relief recently and it terrified me."
Dani hopes to reach her target of £2,200 for Childreach. Founded in 2004, the charity fights child poverty in developing countries.
Dani, who lives in Totterdown when she is not at university in Scotland, said: "I have always taken things like education and health provision for granted, but Child- reach works with children who don't have these things.
"One of Childreach's projects is to provide sustainable water supplies for villages near Mt. Kilimanjaro. With the money I hope to raise, the charity will be able to install a water pump."
