“Well with students moving into the city centre matchboxes there must be quite a demographic change in 'the village'.”

“I was born and raised in Clifton, but I wouldn't live there now if you paid me (and you'd have to). It used to be as whippetslick said, and all the more interesting for it.
Now it's all bank managers and dentists and as boring as swive.”

“I'd be interested to know where exactly these "pedestrian-friendly streets" are. The only pedestriansed area I'm aware of is the very short length of Boyce's Avenue by Caffe Nero.”

“For every decent Georgian property in Clifton there is a shabby basement flat with a tenant on benefits.
I lived on Royal York Crescent years ago, there was more vandalism, drug taking and scroungers around than anywhere else I have lived in Bristol.
And the flat was a dump as well.
Clifton if full of toff paupers driving around in a 20 year old BMW with no tax (on their way to pick up the giro).”

“Having lived in the village throughout the 80's and 90's the best description I heard of the Clifton was Coronation Street with O levels!”
