Clifton teenager Mitchell Hale enjoyed another podium finish in the penultimate round of the Ginetta Juniors Touring Car Championship.

The 15-year-old is seventh in the standings with 288 points ahead of the final round of the championship at Brands Hatch.

Mitchell drove a superb race two from third on the grid to finish second and pick up 30 points and a second podium finish of the season at Rockingham in Northamptonshire last weekend.

"My start was really good but then the safety car came out, which was a bit annoying," said Mitchell, who competes for Tollbar Racing with Food Connections.

"When the race got under way again I led into the first corner but was overtaken.

"Later on I had a bit of pressure from the car behind but I kept my cool as I really wanted to get on the podium again. The last time was at the opening round and, although I've got close several times, it's been a bit of a wait!"

Mitchell also picked up 12 points from race one, but fell back to ninth after starting fourth on the grid due to a mistake when cornering in second place and a later spin.

He will be hoping for better luck when he heads to Brands Hatch in Kent next weekend.

"I really like Brands Hatch and we're racing on the Grand Prix loop which is great," he said. "It's a long track so there are plenty of places to make up time; it should be really good. My aim this year has been to learn the tracks, but if I could grab another podium – especially a win – at Brands, then I'll be very happy."
