Clifton Ladies completed their home programme in the Slazenger EHA Premier Division with a 3-1 victory over Chelmsford.

The sides were level 1-1 at the interval, Sandra Frankland having scored the home goal, but Clifton's superior team work ensured victory with two second-half strikes from Carla Dunnett and Carys Hopkins. Clifton visit Trojans on Saturday in their final fixture.

In National Conference West, Firebrands and Cannock shared a 13-goal thriller at Failand, with the visitors winning 8-5.

Firebrands' goals came from Kate Newton (hat-trick), Georgie Field and Georgie Rawlinson, who has been included, along with team-mate Emily Atkinson, in England's Under-18s squad for the Four Nations tournament at Nottingham over the Easter weekend. Another Firebrands player, Jessica Orrett, is in England's Under-16s squad.

Firebrands visit Bournemouth on Saturday in their final match.

Firebrands men play their concluding Slazenger National Conference West match on Sunday when they host Bourneville. A victory could lift them off the bottom if Cardiff fail to beat Team Bath Buccs.

In their penultimate game at Team Bath, Firebrands lost 5-3, with their goal coming from Grant Armstrong, George Farrant and Marc Patrick.

In West Women's Premier One, leaders Clifton 2nds defeated Cheltenham 3-1 with goals from Vicky Roper (two) and Juliet Rayden. In other divisions, Bristol University 2nds defeated Somerset Gryphons 5-1 with captain Harriet Kiddy (hat-trick) and Liz Hosier (two) scoring for the University.

Rachel Gardiner and Lizzie McManaman also scored two goals each for Thornbury in their 4-1 win over Clifton 4ths.

In N4 Financial Solutions Premier One, Joe Thomas, Pat Haynes and Gareth Nichols were on target as Westbury/Utd Banks drew 3-3 with Exeter University A, while Chris Cutts and Neil Moon struck in the 2nds' 2-0 win over Somerset Gryphons.

Andy Griffin (two) and Max Longden scored as Westbury/Utd Banks 3rds went down 4-3 against West Wilts B.
