Clevedon woman joins Greenpeace rooftop protest at Houses of Parliament
A Clevedon woman was among a group of 55 Greenpeace volunteers who scaled the walls of the Houses of Parliament on Sunday and stayed on the roof for 28 hours.
Liz Cronin, 28, joined the environmentalists to greet politicians returning from their summer break for the first parliamentary session since the expenses scandal.
Miss Cronin says climate change should be right at the top of the political agenda.
She said: "The politicians at Westminster are failing us on climate change, and we're running out of time.
"We need politicians to be fighting for the next generation, not just the next election. And we need a sustainable economy that will create green jobs and bring prosperity while helping us beat climate change."
A banner on the roof of the Palace of Westminster's Great Hall said, "Change the politics, save the climate".
They have also issued a manifesto listing 12 steps British politicians could agree to, to rapidly get the UK onto a low carbon path, and provide the help poorer countries need to develop clean energy, adapt to the impacts of climate change and protect their rainforests.
