Craig Walker and John Hick led winning rinks for Clevedon, while Daran Mason and Pip Branfield kept their losing margins to modest levels, setting Clevedon up for a sixth-round encounter with Torbay.

Malvern Hills, who toppled Cotswold in the previous round, lost to Desborough 86-53.

Graham Shadwell's hopes of winning the Hong Kong International Classic singles title foundered in Kowloon after he was denied a place in the quarter-finals by local Yu Hon Ming.

The Wiltshire star opened with wins over Kevin Fung and Oscar Adem before Ming beat him 6-7, 7-6, 2-1.

Shadwell's England team-mate Mark Walton, from Yorkshire, regained the title he last won in 2004 by beating Aussie Leif Selby 8-3, 5-6, 4-0 in the final.

Scotland's Margaret Letham beat Canadian Shirley Ko 9-5, 7-7 to win the Classic women's title.
