Clevedon lose eight-goal thriller at Oxford City
Oxford City 5 Clevedon Town 3
Clevedon were under pressure from early on and were fortunate not to concede when Andy Gunn's header for Oxford hit the crossbar. And Oxford were rewarded when Mark Bell's cross was headed in by James Falconer.
Little was seen of Clevedon's attack in the first half, although Peter Shephard put wide and an indirect free kick on the edge of Oxford's area came to nothing.
But on the half hour Clevedon levelled through Josh Brigham after a scramble in the Oxford goalmouth.
In the 50th minute Falconer snatched his second goal to restore Oxford's lead and Michael Lyon made it 3-1 six minutes later.
Clevedon pulled one back on 68 minutes through Tom Billing for 3-2 but Falconer got his hat trick 10 minutes later to make it 4-2. A penalty for Clevedon, converted my Matthew Walsh gave the visitors hope until City's Mark Bell got Oxford's fifth.
