There was plenty to celebrate in the Clevedon clubhouse as the club's husband and wife captains David and Rosemary Fife, along with Alison Leatt, won the team award in the Guide Dogs for the Blind pro-am.

They carded 88 stableford points, helped by Guiseppe Licata (Hambrook) whose individual score was 75.

This was six behind Matthew Griffiths, the Oakdale professional from the Valleys, who returned three-under-par 69.

Andrew Sherborne (Kendleshire) shared fifth on 73.

Matt Shapcott led his Stockwood Vale GC team of Russell Brean, Steve James and Paul James into third place.

Michael Watson, from Weymouth, set new course record in winning the Filton Centenary pro-am in six-under-par 70.

It was three better than the mark set by home professional Daryl Kelley in a Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal earlier in the year.

Gloucestershire amateurs Chris Lloyd and Ollie Glaze shot 66 during the county championship in May.

He achieved a three-shot victory over Licata who was three under at the turn after gaining shots at one, three and eight, but two blemishes at 11 and 13 set him back, although he regained those two lost shots at the 15th and 17th.

Licata also brought in the winning team from the home club to bank £450 for his day's work.

Team: Giuseppe Licata, Ricky Shackell, Joe Shackell, Ray Long (87 points), Brent Ellis (Filton), Phil Lear, Andy Maby, Andy Moore (83 points), Daryl Kelley (Filton), Norman Burrows, Pete Peachey, James Parker (83 points).
