Clevedon Town 4 Wimborne Town 2

Wessex League side Wimborne must have fancied their chances of causing an FA Cup upset, being unbeaten in their last seven games, but although they put up a brave fight, the home side progressed into the next round of the competition.

Clevedon goalkeeper Danny Greaves saved well with his legs with Scott Joyce through on goal early on, before Josh Brigham put the home side ahead in the 16th minute following up after his first effort hit a post.

In the 32nd minute, Alan Walker-Harris in the Wimborne goal made two saves in quick succession to deny both Joey Evans and Craig Loxton, but then Sam Small took advantage of a defensive error to increase the Clevedon lead two minutes later.

Late in the half, Walker-Harris was again in action, making two more saves to keep out efforts from Evans and Dale Peckham.

But he was beaten five minutes into the second period by a low shot from Evans.

The visitors were given a glimmer of hope in the 65th minute when Tom Clarke shot home at the far post.

However, Clevedon's three-goal advantage was restored in the 73rd minute, when substitute Aaron Blakemore took the ball round Walker-Harris to shoot home from a tight angle.

Wimborne scored their second goal seven minutes from time, Joyce heading home a corner from Liam Green.
