Clevedon Town 2 Stourbridge 0: Clevedon kept their survival hopes alive with a valuable home win over Stourbridge.

Town overcame the handicap of being without the injured Chris Collins and Sam Jones and the suspended Josh Brigham to pick up the three points.

The first half produced few chances, although Clevedon looked dangerous going forwards.

Both Dale Peckham and Pete Sheppard sent shots off target for the hosts.

In the 37th minute, Matt Walsh sent a low cross across the visitors' goalmouth, but no Clevedon player could get to the ball to touch it over the line.

Tom Billing and Jamal Easter then sent efforts wide of the visitors' goal early in the second period.

The key moment of the game came in the 53rd minute when Stourbridge were reduced to 10 men as Sam Smith was shown a red card after using an elbow on Peckham.

Five minutes later, Stourbridge goalkeeper Lewis Solly got down well to hold on to a shot from Easter.

Soon after, the same player was just off target at the far post after meeting a cross from Sheppard.

In the 74th minute, Stourbirdge's Sam Rock saw his shot cleared off the line by Clevedon defender Lee Molyneaux.

The hosts finally went in front in the 77th minute when Peckham headed into the net from a Danny Wring free-kick.

Just a minute later, Clevedon's on-loan Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Mike Green made a fine save to deny Stourbridge an instant equaliser.

It was a crucial intervention as, only a minute after that, Clevedon grabbed the crucial second goal as Billing got his head to a cross from Walsh to net his sixth goal of the season.
