Cleve eased their relegation fears by securing their second win in as many games when beating fellow strugglers Chippenham 33-15.

The Bristol side were 14-0 ahead early on after hooker Matt Parfitt and wing Nathan Huntley crossed for tries. Scrum-half Lee Audis kicked both conversions.

Chippenham hit back to reduce Cleve's lead to two points thanks to touchdowns from centre Karl Brant and fly-half Rupert Crockett and a conversion by Brant.

But centre Takora Joy Madamombe won a kick and chase from the halfway line to ensure Cleve were in control at the break.

Brant replied with a penalty but Cleve made sure of the spoils with prop Will Davis and Madamombe adding second-half converted tries.

Avonmouth maintained the pressure on South West Two West second-placed side Newton Abbot with a 26-10 win over strugglers Walcot.

Charlie Reynolds contributed 16 points from two tries and three conversions, while Greg Long and Sean Leadbeater also touched down.

Brothers Rory and Owen Biggins are back at Clevedon from Bridgwater and the bottom side almost made it a winning return for the pair.

But Sidmouth scraped home 19-18 after a penalty at the death from Dan Retter.

Clevedon had gone from being 16-6 down to lead 18-16 thanks to tries from James Shopland and Steve Johnson.

In a niggly match between strugglers St Mary's and Yatton, both teams had a player sent off before Dannie Nothnagel snatched a 15-10 victory for Saints with a last-minute try.

Yatton fly-half Tony Hill had earlier been sin binned for a shoulder charge before Yatton skipper Nick Garnham and Saints winger Tom Burns were red carded for fighting.

Will Roach had earlier put the visitors 10-3 ahead with a try five minutes after the break.

Saints' points came from a James Foss try and a penalty and conversion by Steve Plummer before Nothnagel pounced.
