Cleve rattled up a remarkable 35 points without reply to record a fine 45-23 National Three South West victory at Exmouth after trailing 23-10 shortly before the break.

Dan Ajuwa boosted the Bristol side's hopes with a converted try in first-half stoppage-time while the winger's second score, soon after the turnaround, helped Cleve into a lead they never looked like losing.

Ajuwa then completed his hat-trick while two tries from the outstanding Marcus Brooker, who also booted six conversions and a penalty for a personal haul of 25 points, put the seal on a fine comeback.

Fellow centre Ben Loosemore crossed in the first half for Cleve, who were also indebted to Liam McMann, whose work in the line-out and scrum was spot on throughout.

Weston-super-Mare went 24-0 down at Bournemouth and never recovered, eventually losing 39-21. But there is hope for the depleted Seasiders following the arrival of two South Africans.

Mitchell Smith, a 19-year-old full-back or outside centre who was last season a member of the renowned Blue Bulls Academy, came off the bench against Bournemouth and made a strong impression in the last 20 minutes. The club have also recruited Steve Tremall, a former Western Province Under-21 wing or centre who has been out of the game for a while after a short spell with St Mary's. He appeared for Weston Athletic on the weekend and is set to step up to the United on Saturday.

Weston have also been lifted by the return of centre Matt McQuaid from Old Redcliffians.

In South West One West, Clevedon went down to a second home defeat of the campaign as Cullompton won 26-8. Owen Biggins claimed a first-half try and Mike Lowis landed a penalty for the home side, who failed to turn pressure and possession into points after the turnaround.

Avonmouth lost 12-0 at home to Newton Abbot, who remain second behind leaders Hartpury. And at the other end of the table there were further defeats for Yatton and St Mary's.

George Osborne landed three penalties and converted Mike Harris' first-half try for Yatton, who went down 25-16 at home to St Ives. And Mary's are still looking for a first win of the season after an 8-7 home reverse against fellow strugglers Sidmouth.
