The British Heart Foundation is launching a brand new appeal aimed at encouraging people to donate to charity without it costing them a penny by clearing out their wardrobes and cupboards.

The campaign, known as The Big Donation, will begin with donation events in 20 Land Securities' shopping centres located across the country to raise much-needed funds to help fight heart disease, the UK's single biggest killer.

The event is launching at Cabot Circus shopping centre on Monday where it will run for two weeks until Sunday, August 23.

The nation's heart charity is asking the generous people of Bristol to donate good quality items to help fill the shopping centre with 1,200 bags. At the end of the campaign the goods will be sold in local BHF shops in order to raise vital funds for research, education and care services for people affected by heart disease in the region. Every bag of good quality items donated could raise as much as £20 or more.

BHF volunteers can be found on George White Street next to Fossil, opposite HSBC bank every day during the campaign to issue shoppers with a free donation bag.

Visitors to Cabot Circus are invited to fill the bag with clothes, shoes, accessories, CDs, bric-a-brac, toys and books, and then return the bag to the volunteers before the end of the two-week campaign.
