Cleanliness of hospital toilets is a priority
In response to the letter (Staff cuts means toilets stay dirty – April 23) written by a domestic cleaner at Southmead, North Bristol NHS Trust would like to assure members of the public visiting our hospitals that we take the cleanliness of public areas very seriously.
As the trust's domestic matron, I am currently reviewing how often the public toilets are cleaned and will make any changes where needed to improve cleanliness.
Part of a domestic cleaner's duty is to clean their allocated ward as well as the public toilets. NBT has not made any cutbacks on domestic cleaners and is actively recruiting to fill vacant positions. In the meantime, I can assure your readers that all vacant positions are being covered by staff who are able to help by working additional hours.
If anyone has any concerns, I would invite them to contact me personally by calling 0117 9595719.
Kathryn Patrick, Clinical Matron – Domestic Services, North Bristol NHS Trust.
