Claypole sparks Retainers to victory over Ashley

Steve Claypole inspired Retainers to victory in the first game of a Division I double-header against Ashley.

Claypole opened the scoring and Lee Hobbs added a second to clinch a 2-0 win. In the second game, Retainers defended stoutly for a 0-0 draw.

Hare on the Hill and AFC Bohemia shared the honours in another double fixture. Goals by Ben Norris and Greg Williams (penalty) earned Bohemia a 2-0 win in the first game, but Hare on the Hill turned the tables with a 2-0 victory in game two thanks to Chris White and Dan Smith.

Leaders Sneyd Park had to dig deep to earn a 1-1 draw with Portland Old Boys. Tony Pound netted for Portland in the 88th minute but Sneyd levelled immediately through Con Giatoios.

Nima Khajavi (2), Ed Troughton and a Tom Dudley goal fired Cotswool to a 4-2 victory over Bristol Barcelona, for whom Danny Alfaraj got both goals.

A Jessie Tait strike earned Easton Cowboys a 1-1 draw with Clifton St Vincents, who went ahead through Patrick Barker.

In Division II, Torpedo Reserves moved level with Saints Old Boys at the top by beating Hydez FC 2-1. Sam Rowsell and Ed Sutor netted for Torpedo, with Dan Causen on target for Hydez.

Cabot AF slipped up, losing 2-1 to Retainers Reserves. Dave Southwood scored for Cabot but goals from John Maye and Jamie Page gave Retainers the points.

Joe Weare (2) and Jeff Headingtonshot Clifton Rockets to a 3-1 in over Clifton St Vincents Reserves, while Sneyd Park Reserves beat Luccombe Garage 4-0 thanks to Steve Rees (2), Ben Whitehead and Andy Hood.

Jamie Hillyer and Chris Powell netted for Tebby AFC, 2-1 winners against St Andrews, while doubles from Luke Brimble and Rich Escort, plus an Ed Parsons strike, saw TM Lion thrash Cotswool Reserves 5-0.

In Division III, Ashley Reserves slumped to a 4-1 defeat against Evergreen. Goalkeeper Ian Cross netted for Ashley, but Jason Payne (2), James Ford and Mark Menear sealed the points for Evergreen.

Two goals by Danny Crawford, a Harry Tobin strike and an own goal gave LA Cricketers a 4-1 victory over Bristol Barcelona Reserves, who replied through Ed Letts .

Injury-hit Clifton St Vincents A went down 2-0 to goals by Clint Lune and Joe Lydiard for Portland Old Boys Reserves, while leaders Easton Cowboys Reserves thumped Sneyd Park A 5-1 thanks to a Charlie Sutcliffe (3), Dave Owen and Nathan Stokes.

In Division IV, Sneyd Park B beat Hydez FC Reserves with goals from Rob Range (2) and Lee Dixon , while Dan Eddolls scored twice as Conham Rangers beat Vittoria Inn 3-1.
