More than 140 classic cars took to the road from Chipping Sodbury for an annual drive in aid of charity.

They lined up in Broad Street and received their final polishing before setting off on an 80-mile route taking in Gloucester, the Forest of Dean and the Severn Bridge.

Eight motorcycles were also ridden in the convoy, which returned to Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club in time for lunch.

The classic car run is organised by Chipping Sodbury Rotary Club and is its biggest money raiser of the year.

Organiser Anthony Bourne said: "We had a great day with an excellent run. The weather couldn't have been better and we believe we have raised more than £4,000.

"There was a good crowd of spectators in the street to see the cars leave and again back at the rugby club when they returned."

Since 1996, the event has raised more than £50,000 for a variety of charities and individuals.

This year's event featured pre-1980 cars and most drivers completed the journey without a hitch. But a few broke down and pulled out.
