Classic car run to help riding centre
Avon Riding Centre for the Disabled is preparing for a the inaugural Bristol & Bath Classic Car Run next month.
The Henbury-based project is inviting spectators to join the car drivers for breakfast at the centre before the Lord Mayor of Bristol Chris Davies gets the Classic Car Run under way. Organisers are keen to point out that more modern sports cars and any cherished cars are all welcome to take part.
The 95-mile loop will start in Henbury, take drivers to Chew Valley Lake, on to the Avon Valley Railway at Bitton and the Royal Crescent in Bath, and Chipping Sodbury before returning to Avon Riding Centre to enjoy a barbecue and a jazz band.
Avon Riding Centre for the Disabled provides riding sessions for disabled children and adults.
The event, supported by Rotary Club of Bristol Severnside, takes place on July 12 with breakfast served at 9am.
It costs £25 per car plus £7.50 per person to take part, and application should be made to Bill Phillips on 0117 9624867.

“Why can't they shut the Portway for the day so the classic cars can have a free run there? If it's good enough for free-loading cyclists then it's good enough for classic cars.”
