Clarke rocks up at Tytherington ready for Slimbridge encounter
Hellenic League:
TYTHERINGTON Rocks boss Barry Granger has recruited an old ally in an effort to capitalise on an encouraging 3-1 win at Cricklade last weekend.
Versatile King's Stanley midfielder Danny Clarke has signed ahead of Rocks' home encounter with pacesetting Slimbridge tomorrow. Granger said: "Danny was at Chalford in the Northern Senior League when I was in charge there.
"He's always played county football so this is a step-up for him, but he's still in his mid-20s, is skilful with excellent feet, and he can score goals."
Nick Tanner is eyeing his first three-point haul in charge of Winterbourne United at Cirencester United, who have won just once all season.
The Bourne boss hopes to have Dean Kingman on board following his recent seven-day approach for the Tytherington Rocks defender.
Tanner is also keen to see some overdue luck go the way of his side following last weekend's 1-0 GFA Trophy defeat by Patchway Town in front of a 300-plus crowd who had turned out to witness former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar's appearance.
"We had five clear-cut chances to score and two penalty appeals turned down," said Tanner.
Almondsbury Town manager Richard Thompson, pictured left, is confident his team will react positively to the frustration of Saturday's 4-0 FA Vase exit at the hands of the side they face again on their travels in the Premier Ddivision this Tuesday, Witney United.
Before then, second-placed Almonds, who are unbeaten in 18 league fixtures, entertain lowly Carterton tomorrow seeking to close the gap on Reading Town, who have opened up a seven-point lead.
"It was our first real hiccup this season but as long as our lads continue to treat our opponents with respect, realise everyone is out to nail us and not worry about what happened at Witney, we'll be fine," said Thompson.
