Paulton Rovers 1 Tiverton Town 0: Paulton Rovers were deserved winners over Tiverton Town in their FA Cup clash to reach the second qualifying round, which brought them a £3,000 pay-out.

In what turned out to be a physical game, Paulton were always the better side and went close when Ben Lacey shot wide of the far post.

Then central defender Ollie Price almost scored on the stroke of half-time when his well-struck volley was brilliantly saved by Steve Book.

The only goal came eight minutes into the second half, when the Tiverton defence failed to deal with a free-kick and Robbie Claridge scored with a header at the far post.

Neikell Plummer, who is on loan from Bristol Rovers, also missed a good chance for Paulton.

Paulton boss Andy Jones said: "We thoroughly deserved our victory and if we had taken our chances, the scoreline would have been 5-0.All we want now is a home game in the draw for the second qualifying round."
