Bristol City in talks over £500,000 deal for long-serving right-back Bradley Orr
BRADLEY Orr's future is likely to be determined one way or the other this weekend.
Bristol City's long-serving right-back is a target for npower Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers, who are preparing a bid of around £500,000.
Although a formal offer has not yet been submitted for the 27-year-old Liverpudlian, City and Rangers officials are discussing a possible fee and debating what percentage will be paid up front.
It is understood both City boss Steve Coppell and Orr, pictured, would prefer the situation to be resolved before the Robins depart for a week-long pre-season tour to Sweden on Monday.
Orr was a key member of the City side that won automatic promotion from League One in 2007 and made it to the Championship play-off final 12 months later and has only one year left to run on his contract.
Sources inside Ashton Gate suggest an offer of £500,000 or above will probably be accepted.
The player is keeping his options open and has yet to sign a contract extension offered to him at the end of last season.
Bankrolled by billionaire Indian steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, Rangers are prepared to buy success in a bid to regain their Premier League status, while Rangers manager Neil Warnock is a confirmed admirer of Orr. Should the defender make the switch to Loftus Road, City boss Coppell will almost certainly require cash for a replacement.
Academy product Christian Ribeiro is being widely touted as a viable long-term alternative option on the right side of defence, but the Welsh international is short of experience at Championship level and is injured.

“He's a good player albeit with a shocking temper. He won't sign a new contract with us, I don't think, so if he wants to go, let him!
I will miss his determination and excellent tackling,,,but football evolves and sometimes you gotta lose a good player to get 3 more :-)”

“Who'd want a player who head-butts his own team-mates and has been in prison for affray?
Well done to City for standing by their thug for so long.”

“With one year left on his contract, £500k is OK, however, we'll need a replacemnt as Ribiero is injury prone.”
