City experts reveal new research on heart disease
RESEARCHERS from Bristol University have measured the link between people's body fat levels and their chances of developing heart disease.
The research, published in journal PLoS Medicine after a study of 76,000 cases, found that people with a high body mass index (BMI) are on average 50 per cent more likely to develop heart disease. BMI has long been recognised as a risk factor for heart disease but the research is being hailed for accurately measuring the risk.
