Cirencester overpower Cleeve
Striker Carl Brown was the star of this hard fought local derby as Cirencester's powerful attacking display earned them three much needed Southern League Division One South and West points.
Town gradually got on top in an end-to-end first half and they went in front after 29 minutes when Sean Wimble sweetly volleyed in a knock-down in the box from Andy Minturn.
Former Centurion Gareth Hopkins was then shown a red card for a foul on Brown before Julian Alsop, who started the season at the Corinium Stadium, headed in from a corner to put Cleeve level at the break.
Immediately after the start of the second half Brown scored the goal of the game when he jinked past several defenders before lifting the ball over Sam Gilder.
Scott Griffin made it 3-1 to Cirencester from the penalty spot soon afterwards only for Cleeve to get back into the game through Dan Avery.
Griffin's second spot kick re-established the home side's two goal advantage and they were finally in the clear on 87 minutes when Rob Dean fired in his first goal for the club to complete the scoring.
