Christmas is strumming!

A PAIR of local guitarists braved the weather to entertain Christmas shoppers in Bristol city centre.

Mikhail Asanovic, 27, and Jake Wright, 23, have formed a group called The Showhawk Duo and have been playing to shoppers in Broadmead.

The musicians have been turning heads in the packed streets with a lively acoustic set which includes a cover of the Queen classic Bohemian Rhapsody.

The pair first met in Bath where they were both busking and have now decided to work on an album.

They play together most weekends and spend what spare time they have performing and teaching music.

Mikhail is a classically trained guitarist, having graduated with an MA from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester just over 18 months ago.

His friend and fellow busker, who was born and raised in Keynsham, is soon to be a father.

Crowds of shoppers stopped to listen to the pair, who played on in spite the freezing temperatures.

Mikhail said: "Once you start playing you warm up. Our music is fast and lively and loud.

"It's fantastic here, such a friendly atmosphere. It's much better here than in Bath."

Joseph Russell, who watched the pair, said: "It is very good for the city, there should be more of it.

"It makes Bristol feel young and vibrant."
