Christmas shopping hours extended in Bristol
FESTIVE shoppers in the Bristol area will have plenty of time for last-minute present buying as the city's stores and retail centres extend hours for Christmas.
All large stores have to follow Sunday shopping rules on December 23, which is often their busiest of the Christmas season when it falls on any other day of the week.
To make up for the lost opening time, they are extending their hours on Christmas Eve, when shops have traditionally closed early.
Morrisons in Bristol and Weston- super-Mare has already extended its opening hours in the run-up to Christmas, meaning shoppers can now buy food from 7am to 11pm up until Saturday, December 22.

Its supermarkets will be open for last minute buyers from 7am to 5pm on Christmas Eve.
The other large supermarkets are also eager to cash in on the festive rush, with the Tesco Extra stores in Eastville and Brislington open from midnight until 10pm on Christmas Eve.
Asda is not yet advertising Christmas shopping hours but is likely to have similar opening hours to its main rivals, particularly at stores that are usually open 24 hours a day such as Longwell Green and Patchway.
Marks & Spencer is also opening its stores at The Mall, Cribbs Causeway, and Longwell Green from the first minute of Christmas Eve until 6pm.
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway's annual festive shopping hours see the centre open until 10pm on weekdays, and on Christmas Eve it will be open from 9am to 5pm. It is also enticing shoppers with its festive ice rink and Winter Wonderland.
The festive period is a key time of competition between The Mall and the city centre's offering.
Cabot Circus has already extended its opening hours on Thursday and Friday nights and will be open from 10am to 9pm from December 17 to December 21.
On Christmas Eve shoppers will have from 10am to 6pm for a last minute dash.
Some smaller shopping centres, including Kings Chase in Kingswood also have extended hours. Kings Chase will be open until 10pm on Friday, December 21 and 9pm on Saturday, December 22.
