Choir lifts spirits of city office staff
staff.
Dressed in their smart red jackets – a sharp contrast to
August's grey skies – the choir sang for an hour in the square
outside the Wetherspoon's pub.
About 35 singers performed gospel, jazz and show tunes and
traditional English songs.
They are the latest group to perform in the square,
following the Bristol Male Voice Choir, a jazz band and pupils
from Hannah More Junior School.
Colin Burn, Temple Quay's site manager, said the events were
in response to businesses asking for the area to be livened
up.
"The shareholders and businesses occupying the offices in
Temple Quay asked us to enrich the surroundings so it is less
of a business centre and more of a friendly environment for
people to enjoy their lunchtimes.
"So we have got planters, hanging baskets and flowers to
brighten the site up, and we have also brought in music groups
to come and entertain staff on their lunch breaks."
"We have had pupils from Hannah More Junior School singing,
a jazz band and the Bristol Male Voice Choir so far, and the
New Harmony Ladies have finished the summer season for us.
"The feedback we have had from the businesses has been very
good, and it makes a real change to have something like this
here."
