Children's laureate drops into Bristol school

He visited Bristol Grammar School as part of its public year-round literary events programme, spending time with youngsters from the school's infant and junior sections before appearing at an "afternoon tea" event that was open to the public in the sixth form common room, where an exhibition of his work was hung.
Mr Browne, who was recently awarded the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize, said: "One of the great parts of visiting schools is seeing the enthusiasm children have for books – it never ceases to amaze me the joy and excitement the stories give, whether they are in picture form or words.
BGS literary events co-ordinator Lucy Shepherd said: "It's an honour to have Anthony Browne visit the children of the Infants School and Junior School. His illustrations are both touching and humorous with a unique quality inspirational to young minds."
Money raised from the public event was due to be donated to school resource charity Education For All.
