Two children were hurt in road accidents in Bristol within minutes of one another, and two adults were also hit by cars.

Great Western Ambulance Service said a three-year-old girl was hit by a car on Long Cross, Lawrence Weston, at 3.30pm on Monday afternoon and received minor injuries.

She was taken to the Bristol Children's Hospital by ambulance for further assessment.

About 15 minutes later another child was injured on Filton Avenue in Horfield, near the Spar shop.

GWAS received a 999 call reporting that a 10-year-old boy had been hit by a car but was conscious and breathing.

The boy was also taken to the children's hospital for further checks.

Crews were called to two other road accidents the same afternoon.

A 25-year-old man was hit by a car and went over its bonnet in Fishponds Road at 4.30pm and was taken to Frenchay Hospital after complaining of pains in his abdomen, although he is not believed to have been seriously injured.

A woman in her late teens or early 20s was also taken to Frenchay Hospital after suffering head injuries when she was hit by a car in Richmond Terrace, Avonmouth, just before 6.30pm.

“My car was in minor collision with an Audi yesterday afternoon about 2.45pm. The driver did not stop but dont fear he will be caught.”

“I thought it was just my unfortunate experience yesterday evening and this morning, but my route to and from work seemed to be full of pedestrians seemingly oblivious to the traffic.

Mind you, the pedestrians who really don't help themselves are the button mashers - you know, the ones texting, i-podding or what ever they are doing whilst they cross the road. I even saw one man reading a newspaper as he crossed.

Bring back the normal Bristol weather.”

“Drivers seem to have gone mental in the last couple of days. The roads this morning were full of frustration, and I saw 3 separate 'bumps' within the space of about 2 miles!”
