Cheltenham Town boss Martin Allen is adamant that his side can defy the odds to avoid relegation.

The Robins lie 12 points from safety with nine games left after a 2-2 draw at Huddersfield Town, but Allen believes 18 points could be enough to save the Robins.

"Six wins out of nine could well be enough and we can still get out of it, absolutely," Allen said.

"I don't give a monkey's about the teams above us, only about our performances and everyone staying committed and focused to the end of the season.

"Seven points from three games, including two clean sheets, means it has been a tremendous week."

New loan signing Leon Constantine scored Cheltenham's opening goal at the Galpharm Stadium and Allen was delighted.

"We picked him up in Birmingham and when I saw him at the services, I thought he was a geezer there to clean cars as he was wearing jeans and trainers," he said. "We chucked him on the bus and I didn't even know who he was. I chucked him a shirt and said 'good luck son' and he did well."

Huddersfield were awarded a penalty in the 83rd minute that Robins goalkeeper Scott Brown saved, before the home side netted a 92nd minute leveller and Allen blasted referee Kevin Wright's performance.

"I thought the referee was absolutely shocking and it was a diabolical decision for the penalty that they got," he said.

"Where he got five minutes injury time from at the end, I will never know."

Constantine took five minutes to net his first goal for Cheltenham and said he could not have wished for a better start.

"I have a habit of scoring on my debut, so it was good to see that continue," he said.

"I have played against a lot of the boys, so it's not like I am a complete stranger and they made me feel welcome so it wasn't hard.

"I thought we deserved to win the game. We have scored two goals away from home and gone 2-0 up and it shows what the team is capable of."

Cheltenham had Josh Low sent off for violent conduct in the 61st minute and he now faces a three-match ban as well as a fine.

As well as the suspended Low, Cheltenham are also likely to be without John Finnigan (hamstring), Shane Duff, Lee Ridley and David Bird (all calf) for tomorrow's home match against Oldham Athletic.

"We'll have to have a roll call at 6.30pm on Tuesday because we will be short, but it has not affected them and it seems to have given them extra strength," Allen said.

Reading loan winger Michail Antonio is due to resume training this week and could be involved against Oldham.
