Cheltenham Town striker Damian Spencer has won his appeal against the red card he received in Saturday's 5-3 home defeat by MK Dons.

Spencer, who hit a 13-minute hat-trick after replacing Josh Low at half-time, was dismissed by referee Kevin Friend for serious foul play after an 85th-minute challenge on Dons' skipper Dean Lewington. However, Cheltenham appealed on the grounds of wrongful dismissal, believing that Spencer had made a fair challenge for the ball and won the ball cleanly, thereby not endangering an opponent.

The appeal hearing was held up by bad weather. The appeal documents and DVD did not reach FA headquarters at Soho Square until Tuesday afternoon.

However, an appeal commission heard the claim and withdrew the three-match suspension that would have resulted from the red card, so Spencer will be available for Saturday's trip to Scunthorpe.
