Full-time: Cheltenham Town 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 2. Goals from Ian Westlake and Chris Westwood looked certain to give Cheltenham Town a much-needed victory in their relegation scrap with Brighton – before an injury-time header from defender Adam Hinshelwood saw the game end all-square at Whaddon Road.

Midfielder Westlake, playing the last game of a three-month loan spell, struck in the seventh minute with a beautifully-stroked effort through a crowd of players in the penalty area with his weaker right foot.

Peterborough loanee Westwood doubled the lead just before the hour mark by bundling home an Alex Russell corner to register his second goal in as many games since arriving at Whaddon Road earlier this month.

Brighton striker Nicky Forster ensured a nervous final 12 minutes for Martin Allen's men by capping a much-improved second-half performance from Micky Adams' side by guiding home a Tommy Fraser cross with a powerful header.

Cheltenham should have had it all wrapped up by that point after enjoying the majority of the chances, with Westlake and second-half substitute Alex Russell forcing Brighton goalkeeper John Sullivan into saves with efforts from the edge of the box.

Ashley Vincent missed an open goal after a good cross to the far post from Josh Low before forcing another fine save out of Sulllivan soon after.

Cheltenham were then made to pay for those missed opportunities when Hinshelwood rose highest at the near post to direct a Cox corner past a helpless Scott Brown in the Cheltenham goal.

Cheltenham Town (4-4-2): Brown; Bird, Westwood, Duff, Ridley; Vincent, Finnigan (Russell 46), Westlake, Bignall (Low 57); Hammond (Gallinagh 75), Owusu. Subs: Puddy, Watkins.

Brighton & HA (4-4-2): Sullivan; Virgo, Hinshelwood, Elphick, Whing; Birchall, Fraser, El-Abd (Loft 71), McLeod (Livermore 46); Fleetwood (Cox 46), Forster. Subs: Kuipers, Hawkins.
