Cheerleaders are an instant success
Twirling their pompoms and kicking out their legs, a competitive cheerleading squad from Bristol proved a hit at their first ever competition.
Bristol Extreme Allstars was set up in January 2008 by full-time University of West of England students Claire Haggett and Joanne Webb.
After months of training, the squad entered their first competition this month, held by the British Cheerleading Association, and received their very first trophy.
Head coach Claire said: "We entered senior cheer level two – the biggest division of the whole competition, against 16 other squads.
"When the results came, everyone was extremely happy and proud to receive Extreme Allstars' very first trophy, coming sixth out of 17 squads in their very first competition."
The Allstars, who train at the Castle School in Thornbury, are now looking for new talent to join the squad, with try-outs being held on June 10.
This opportunity is open to anyone over the age of 14, both male and female.
