People taking a bank holiday stroll along Bristol's harbour were greeted by cheeky works of art that sprung up overnight.

A mystery artist decided to turn 12 mooring posts into buxom women by dressing them in colourful bras.

Lingerie in a variety of patterns and shades was used to decorate the curves of the posts that line the water and printed heads finished off the transformation.

The only clue about the artist featured in the name St8ment on the back of the works and an accompanying website provides more information about the installation titled 'Nothing lasts forever –not even beauty'.

On his website, the artist has confirmed that the works were installed early yesterday morning after he had purchased 11 FF-cup bras. Trevor George, of Pooles Wharf Court, Hotwell Road, spotted the work from his home when he woke up.

He told the Evening Post: "They are great. My wife pointed them out to me. We have had vandals spray on the bridge before and chalk drawings have appeared before but I have never seen anything like this before. It is just a bit of light-hearted fun. Hopefully they will stay up for a while."

Andy Golding and Deborah Rowntree, both 28, of Hotwell Road, spotted the decorated posts while out running.

Mr Golding said: "We thought it was a bit of fun. They obviously saw the shape and thought of the perfect way to decorate them. We had a chuckle on the way out and it would have been good to see them right down the Portway."

“He ! He ! I took the photos which appeared in the Evening Post, despite them being incorrectly credited to "Gavin Crilly".
Unfortunately the strong winds and rain has broken off at least five of the heads which were made from 5mm foam-board.
I will check tomorrow to see if any more break tonight.
The "Artist" ST8MENT has contacted me to say thanks for notifying the Evening Post.
If this link works there's some pics online at -> after the www [dot] it's trev.me.uk/ST8MENT”
