RICHARD Foster believes Bristol City have passed the low point of their season and are now on the way back up.

While many City fans will argue that the recent 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Wolves represented the worst performance seen at Ashton Gate since Cardiff won 6-0 in BS3 in January 2010, Foster prefers to highlight last month's 2-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic as a watershed moment.

At that point on November 11, City had suffered a club-record seven successive defeats and were rock bottom of the npower Championship table. Manager Derek McInnes was coming under fire from frustrated supporters and it was difficult to see where the next win was coming from.

"There comes a point in every season where you have to stop and take stock and that moment for us came after the Charlton game," said right-back Foster.

"It was arguably our worst performance of the season and, when you get to that stage, you know things cannot get any worse.

"We played terribly, lost to a team that were not that far ahead of us in the league and sat in the dressing room and knew we had reached our lowest point.

"We knew we had to regroup and results and performances since then suggest it was a real turning point."

Although the nature of the defeat to Wolves came as a bolt out of the blue, City have shown a gradual improvement since losing to Charlton, drawing 1-1 with Blackpool to stop the rot and then winning away games against Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday.

"We knuckled down, worked hard and took encouragement from a hard-earned point against Blackpool," said Foster. "We just had to stop the defeats, because seven in a row was not a nice place to be.

"Confidence was low after the Charlton game, but the performance against Blackpool helped and by the time we got to Middlesbrough, we were believing in ourselves again."

City demonstrated admirable strength of character and resolve to twice come from behind against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough last Saturday.

Foster said: "We have fallen away a bit when we have let in goals previously and we showed great character to bounce back."

City have now taken seven points from their last five games, their best return since August. But it remains to be seen if last Saturday's 3-2 victory at Hillsborough represents a fundamental change in fortunes or just another false dawn.

City face crunch games against Derby County, Ipswich Town, Watford, Peterborough United and Millwall in the next three weeks.

So would I, however that only leaves Danns in midfield and he may leave on Jan 8th!

Another pointless article lifted from player.
