The Bristol Post

WHEN I heard that we were having food banks in Bristol I thought we were back in the 1920s or the war years.

How can we in the 21st century have food banks for our own people?

We have appeals on TV for disasters abroad, earthquakes etc but we never have appeals for our own disasters for all those people in our country with all our floods etc.

But when there is a disaster abroad, what happens, appeals on TV for money.

Well, we have a disaster now with all our floods where people have been flooded more than once.

Also, they can't get insurance because they live in a flooded area, there is no way they will ever be able to sell their house. So instead of sending money abroad, send it to our own people who have lost everything including all their Christmas presents.

I do hope that their local MP and councillor will visit these people and not ring the press for pictures etc for votes.

I always thought that charity begins at home but has it?
