Charity helps Bristol ambulance crews to get through the snow

A first aid charity helped emergency staff to get through the snow to reach patients.

St John Ambulance supported the NHS to help them tackle the difficult weather conditions over the weekend by supplying 4x4 ambulances.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the charity's vehicles, some staffed by the charity's own trained crews, were out across the Bristol area.

They helped transport patients to hospitals and responded to road traffic collisions.Steve Hargreaves, the charity's regional director for ambulance and first aidin the South West, said: "St John Ambulance has a vital role to play during weather like these by assisting our NHS Ambulance partners.
