Champions Torpedo turn up the pressure
Bristol Downs League: Champions Torpedo moved up to second spot following a narrow 1-0 win over Easton Cowboys. Mike Stubbs was the Torpedo hero with a first-half strike.
Ashley and Lawes Juniors drew 1-1, with Stuart Ford ending a clever move to put Ashley in front and Dominic Wall equalising in the second half. Ollie Bendall missed a penalty for Lawes.
In Division II, TM Lion and Luccombe Garage drew 3-3, with Lee Burge, Luke Brimble and Keegan Rogers scoring for Lion to counter a superb hat-trick from Mohammed Mido.
Craig Smith netted Portland Old Boys Reserves' goal in a 2-1 Division III defeat by Ashley Reserves.
Four goals by Craig Green failed to save LA Cricketers from a 6-4 defeat against leaders Beachcroft, while Josh Graham, Nick Wade and Dan Ward fired Clifton Rockets Reserves to a 3-0 success against Evergreen.
Unbeaten Clifton St Vincents A had Simon Devine's penalty to thank for a 1-1 draw against Easton Cowboys Reserves.
Torpedo A outgunned Sneyd Park A 6-2 thanks to Dave Williams, Kevin McCarron, Chris Smith, Kevin Foukes, Shane Stevenson and an own goal. Jim Ball and Martin Cordy hit back for Sneyd.
Colston Cox scored twice as Division IV leaders West Town United romped to a 4-1 win over Vittoria Inn.
Sneyd Park B had Luke Marshall, Rich O'Brien, Paul Finnegan and Nick Whitehead on the scoresheet in a 4-1 win over Cotham Old Boys.
Hydez FC Reserves and Retainers A shared six goals, with Alan Dann, Alex Williams and Martin Spearman netting for Hydez and Phil Woodland (2) and Jamie Page on target for Retainers, who ended the game with only nine men.
