Celebrating 10 years of service
EMPLOYEES at Bristol's NHS Direct base are celebrating ten years working with the service.
The ten members of staff were among 131 who have marked the landmark anniversary this year.

They were joined for celebrations by 17 employees who were presented with values awards, recognising their outstanding work and commitment after being voted for by their colleagues.
When they started working for NHS Direct in 2002 about 13,000 calls a day were handled in centres across England, which has almost doubled in the ten years with the service now handling about 22,000 calls a day.

Over the last decade, NHS Direct's staff have provided health information and advice through major national health scares including foot and mouth disease, the Sars virus, bird flu, and the swine flu pandemic.
Sue Myers, a health information specialist at the Bristol contact centre, said: "The most satisfying part of the job is being able to provide our patients with reliable information from reputable sources and to be able to answer their questions."
Tracey Skidmore, a health adviser, said: "Through this job I have met some of the most genuinely caring people that I am now privileged to call friends."
