Celebrity chefs have submitted recipes to support a Bristol charity which is encouraging people to beat the winter blues by baking.

Today is unofficially known as Blue Monday - the third Monday is January which is widely acknowledged as the most depressing day of the year.

However, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's marmalade muffins are sure to bring a smile.

And if that doesn't tickle your tastebuds, how about Prue Leith's goats' cheese and onion tartlet or Delia Smith's Banana and Walnut Loaf?

The recipes have been collated by Spark and Mettle in support of its Flour-ish campaign, which works with young people from less privileged backgrounds in Bristol, London, Essex, Edinburgh and Leeds to help them fulfil their potential.

Charity founder Eugenie Teasley said: "One of the simplest ways to lift your spirits is to do something for someone else.

"By baking and sharing with friends, family or colleagues, you can spread a little cheer and bolster your own mood too."

The recipes can be accessed for free at www.flour-ish.org.uk, but visitors are encouraged to make a donation.
