Cast and crew of Dr Who film scenes in Bristol for latest series
THE cast and crew of cult BBC television show Doctor Who descended on Bristol to film scenes for the latest series.
Cameras were rolling at a block of flats near Commercial Road to shoot scenes for the sixth series of the show, which was relaunched in 2005.
Among the stars in the city on Monday were Matt Smith, the 11th actor to take over the role of Doctor Who, and Karen Gillan, who plays the timelord’s companion Amy Pond.
Matt looked uncharacteristically bulky in a black, oversized knee-length parka.
But he was unmistakable in the trademark bow tie he has sported since taking over the role from fans’ favourite David Tennant.
Flame-haired Karen also wore an enormous coat.
Doctor Who, which first aired in 1963 and is normally filmed in and around Cardiff, is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as being the world's longest-running science fiction television show.
The new series is set to be broadcast next Easter.

“Perhaps aliens from Dr. Who disguised as humans and living in Ashton Vale are gaining valuable energy fron the toxic chemicals on the 'village green'. This could also be the reason the BBC cannot move this operation to Cardiff. The conspiracy lives on!”

“Or perhaps step into the timelord's police box and go back in time to check if the 'town green' was in fact used as such for as many years as is claimed!”

“Good to see the BBC are still filming in Bristol after they disgracefully moved Casulty to Cardiff.
We have a great City and more drama programmes should come, or stay here and not move away.”
