Children are being invited to a Whitchurch garden centre to take part in free pumpkin carving for Halloween.

Staff at Whitehall Garden Centre, Norton Lane, are asking youngsters to draw a design onto the pumpkins for carving from Saturday, October 24 until Sunday, November 1.

Manager David Manning said: "Youngsters can draw any design they like on their pumpkin, but we're hoping to get lots of interesting faces to help celebrate Halloween in a really spooky way.

"The pumpkin carving sessions are free and garden centre staff will help carve the designs.

"Children will be able to take their creations home with them at the end of each session and youngsters must be accompanied by an adult at all times."

The garden centre is also hosting a number of other events for Halloween during half-term week.

There will be Halloween magic shows and the results of a children's pumpkin competition to find out who has grown the biggest vegetable.

The pumpkin carving sessions will take place between 10am until 12noon and 1pm-4.30pm.
