Long Ashton GC has another star in the making as Adam Carson has been chosen to play for the European Boys Team Championship.

Together with Chris Lloyd from the Kendleshire, they will make up the six-man team to take on other European nations at Golf de Pan near Utrecht in the Netherlands between July 7-11.

The selection comes as another filip to the Long Ashton GC where European Tour player Chris Wood learnt his golf.

Carson, 17, was the England Under-16 Champion in 2007, Gloucestershire Junior Champion last year, and recently won the Fairhaven Trophy. A former Gloucestershire Youth Champion, he lost a play-off for the Douglas Johns Trophy and was runner-up in the South West Boys Championship, both in 2007, and finished second last year in the South West Under-16 Championship.

He has also been capped at under-16 level against Spain, Scotland and Ireland over the past two years.

Lloyd, 17, who is due to make his boys international debut in this month's World Boys Team Championships in Japan, has also been an under-16 cap for the past two years and before that was an England schools international.

The South West Boys Champion in 2007, he finished runner-up in the Carris Trophy that year and won the Hazards Salver for the best aggregate by a British and Irish under-16 player in that event.

He also tied with Lewis for the North of England Under-16 Championship in 2007 but won the title outright last year, and recently became Gloucestershire County Champion. Lloyd has represented the EGU in France, America and Japan.
