Carol bus breaks down
The Southmead Carol Bus broke down before a note could be sung.
But Santa, in the form of Warwick Hulme, who runs Bristol City Sightseeing Tours, has stepped in to offer a replacement bus which will be touring the streets of Southmead next Friday, December 19.
Cliff Howell, 50, who runs Cliff's Florist in Greystoke Avenue, raises hundreds of pounds for local good causes by playing carols from an open-top double decker bus.
On Monday last week the carol bus paid a visit to four old people's homes in the Southmead area and on Tuesday it was at Asda Walmart at Cribbs Causeway.
On Thursday carols were sung to shoppers at Sainsbury's in Filton but on Friday the bus broke down.
Cliff said: "We will be back on Friday, starting from traffic lights in Greystoke Avenue at 5.30pm."
Father Christmas, he was due to be on the carol bus on Monday during a procession in aid of the Lord Mayor's Appeal for Children from the Downs to Broadmead at 4pm.

“I read the report about the new carol that is to be premiered at Weston and it reminded me of one of my favourite songs from the tape Sing Out Shout For Joy by The Spinners. It too is called
I wonder as I wander ...out under the sky.
Why Jesus our Savior was born for to die.
For ordinary people like you and like I.
I wonder as I wander out under the sky.
I wish I could get to the concert to compare them and see which I like best.”
