BRISTOL & AVON LEAGUE: Carmel United came from behind to snatch a 5-3 away win against newcomers FC Bristol, who threatened to cause an upset after taking a 3-1 lead at the break.

Alex Lamb (2) and Victor Gonzales were the first-half scorers for the hosts before Carmel hit back through Kehinde Olu, with a hat-trick on his debut, and Rafael Burke, whose double included a penalty.

A four-goal salvo from John Bale set up a 14-0 romp by De Veys away to a young Wessex Wanderers A side, who will take time to gain experience at this level. Club secretary Lee Williams made his comeback in goal for De Veys, whose other marksmen were Chris Deveys (3), John Nutland (2), Danny Gould (2), Connor Walker (2) and Ben Garland.

Struggling Greyfriars Athletic B crashed 9-0 at Long Ashton Reserves, whose scorers were Dean Wilson (2), Mark Bartlett (2), Paul Williams (2), his brother Conrad, Dan Cole and Courtney Morris.

Newcomers Iron Acton Reserves made a losing start, beaten 2-0 by goals from Ollie Campbell and Steve Welsh for Golden Hill Reserves.

Knowle Reds lost 2-0 at home to Bideford OB. Shaun Steadman scored in the first half and Chris Ritchens sealed victory in the 85th minute.

Pitch problems at Southey Avenue Playing Fields caused the postponement of the game between Bristol Royal Sports and Bradley Stoke A.
