Carey, Skuse and Baldock on way back for Bristol City
Bristol City have been handed a timely boost in their fight for Championship survival by the news that three key players are due to return to full training this week.
Out of action for several weeks, centre-back Louis Carey, midfielder Cole Skuse and striker Sam Baldock are all expected to train with the first team squad at the club’s Failand headquarters on Tuesday.

Bristol City defender Louis Carey is targeting first team return at Blackpool
And head coach Sean O’Driscoll is hoping all three will be available for Saturday’s npower Championship fixture against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
Skuse has not featured since injuring his knee in a 2-0 home win over Watford at the end of January, while Carey was sidelined after sustaining a badly bruised knee in a 2-0 defeat at Blackburn on February 2.

Troubled by a calf strain, Baldock has missed City’s last four games. But the injury has responded to rest and the former MK Dons and West Ham United marksman could make the squad at Blackpool.
O’Driscoll confirmed: “Louis, Cole and Sam are all recovering well and will be able to train properly with the rest of the squad by the middle of this week.”

“With Baldock fit, it means that we can have some more firepower. It will be good to have both the top goalscorers ready for saturday. I recon Davies and stead to start with baldock as the sub to come on later and hope to finish the game. Carey may have trouble getting into the team with both fontaine and tangs having good games but i think Carey is wanting his landmark apps so he should start!”

“We need Carey to remain injury-free until the end of the season, to avoid having to play Bates or Mark Wilson, who are not up to the task.”

“@rocketbob:
If Bates & Mark Wilson are in the first team we will be in trouble.Bates's signing says more about our Board's austerity programme than football.
I don't think he'll have the money to bring in anyone of quality
@johnbristol3
Hope for you yet, John!!”

“seems with Bates fit. S`od may not bother on taking a chance on another short term loan.
I would prefer him to be looking at possible players to sign for next season bringing them in on loan if possible.”

“..and they are what you would call 3 absolute key players. The first two fighting Bristol boys and the latter a pacey goal poacher - just the job for the battle ahead...”

“My feeling is SOD knows the budget is tight and is only likely to bring one in at most, probably a centre back. With those 3 back and a bit more luck with injuries in general the squad will have more depth and the current players a point to prove ( and salary levels to maintain) so he may not want to rock the boat by integrating a couple more. Notwithstanding the long term weaknesses at CB we have cover in most other positions and hopefulkly players good enough to start the slow climb to safety.”
